John Daly attracts attention at Spanish Open
John Daly
Golf is generally regarded as a conservative, quiet sport for conservative, quiet players. Because of this, when John Daly showed up to practice for the Spanish Open in apparel from Loudmouth Golf, spectators looked twice.
Loudmouth Golf specializes in the type of golf clothing you’d see in a Chevy Chase movie. Daly donned bright orange and pink from head to toe, and observers took notice.
Not for the weak of wallet
If golf is a rich man’s sport, Loudmouth Golf gear is a rich man’s clothing retailer. A pair of brightly colored pants costs $89.95 — right up there with designer jeans.
But for those who have the cash to plunk down at tee time, they can probably afford Loudmouth Golf clothes without having to take out online payday loans in Kentucky or installment loans.
Why wear Loudmouth Golf gear?
Loudmouth Golf founder Scott Woodworth has a simple answer for his motivation behind creating the clothing line: for fun!
“If you’re uptight, self-conscious and care more about your golf score than the experience, then they are not for you. But if you treat a golf outing as a special occasion for fun and laughs, then wear some. They can’t hurt your score and they might even irritate your opponent!” Woodworth says.
So, if you’re one of the lucky people out there who still has money to spend on fun, you can check out Loudmouth Golf’s extensive line of “Outstanding Golf Pants.”
More stuff from Loudmouth Golf
Of course, the golf gear company sells more than $90 pants. Loudmouth Golf sells shorts, of course, for $69.95 a pop. Several of them look like the swim trunks or board shorts you’d find in a young men’s clothing section.
The company also sells hats, belts, shirts and even sport coats. However, a sport coat from Loudmouth Golf will cost you $250. Youch! The web site specifies that sport coats are made to order.
Saving for a sunny day
There is a section marked “clearance” on the Loudmouth Golf site. However, it appears nothing has stayed on the virtual shelves long enough to make it there. Now that the company has gotten some publicity thanks to John Daly, it seems even less likely the merchandise will last until clearance time.
But one thing that’s always true about hype is that it dies down. So, if you you’re dead set on getting yourself some “Aloha Girl” print golf shorts, keep checking that clearance section.
Odds and ends
There are a few surprising extras under the “More Loud Stuff” category at Loudmouth Golf. For instance, you can e-mail pictures of yourself and get them made into “baseball” (or in this case golf) cards. A pack of 200 is $40.
You can also pick up brightly colored grips and ball repair tools to match your “Outstanding Golf Pants.”
